FAQ

What is the Leep Ring?

The Leep Ring is a smart ring that tracks sleep, heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), blood oxygen (SpO2), temperature and activity. It costs £199 as a one-time payment with no subscription or monthly fees.

How much does the Leep Ring cost?

The Leep Ring costs £199. This is a one-time payment with no ongoing subscription fees. All features and app access are included for life.

Does the Leep Ring require a subscription?

No. The Leep Ring has no subscription, no monthly fees, and no hidden costs. You pay £199 once and get lifetime access to all tracking features and the Leep app.

How does the Leep Ring compare to the Oura Ring?

The Leep Ring offers similar sleep and health tracking to the Oura Ring - including HRV, SpO2, and sleep stages - but costs £199 with no subscription. The Oura Ring requires an ongoing monthly membership to access full features.

How does the sizing kit work?

We send you a free sizing kit before dispatching your ring, so you have time to test different sizes and fingers - ideally wearing your preferred size overnight, as fingers can swell with warmth and activity.

To confirm your size, click through to your order details from your order confirmation email and select "Change product options" to choose your perfect size. We will then dispatch the ring straight away.

Tips: go with the larger size if you are between sizes. The ring's resin inner lining is slightly stickier than the sample, so it will feel a fraction more secure to remove than the sample you tested. If the sample leaves an indent when cold, go up a size.

How do I charge the Leep Ring and the Charging Case?

Place the ring in the charging case with the sensor bumps facing downward into the magnetic pins. Remove the ring protector first — it can prevent the pins from making proper contact. You'll see a slow green blinking LED on the ring when it's charging correctly. The case itself charges via the included USB-C cable into any USB power source (a power adapter is not included), and holds up to 60 days of backup charge once full.

If your ring won't charge at all, please see "My Leep Ring is not charging" in the Troubleshooting document — the most common cause is a small clear plastic protector left around the charging pillar inside the case.

My Leep Ring won't charge - what should I check first?

Before anything else, look inside your charging case and remove the small clear plastic ring sitting around the charging pillar. It's transparent and easy to miss, but if it's still in place your Leep Ring simply cannot charge. Lift it off, pop your ring back in, and you should be good to go.

What does the LED on my ring mean?

The ring uses PPG (Photoplethysmography) — light is shone through the skin to measure heart rate, HRV and blood oxygen. The LED only activates during active measurements, not continuously.

  • Green LED: the ring is measuring heart rate (every 10 minutes) or HRV (every 60 minutes).
  • Red LED: the ring is measuring blood oxygen saturation / SpO2 (every 30 minutes).

If the green LED stays on continuously rather than pulsing briefly, this may indicate a software issue — please update the app to the latest version.

What metrics does the Leep Ring track and how accurate are they?

The Leep Ring tracks sleep, heart rate (HR), heart rate variability (HRV), temperature, and activity. All of these are core metrics that influence how rested you feel. We follow World Sleep Society guidelines, focusing on trends, not perfection. We don’t present you with overwhelming data – just what you need to know to help you sleep better.

Is the app compatible with my phone, and what languages does it support?

The app supports iOS 15+ and Android 8.0+, and is available in English, French, French Canadian, German, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Polish, Slovenian, Swedish, Russian, Ukrainian, Portuguese (Brazilian), Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional).

How long should the battery last?

Up to 8 days per charge under normal usage, depending on sync frequency and whether Live Heart Rate is active. If you're seeing significantly shorter battery life, update the app first — a background sync bug introduced in late May 2026 caused excess drain for some users and has since been fixed.

If battery life is still well below normal after updating, see "My Leep Ring battery is draining too quickly" in the Troubleshooting document for the full diagnostic steps.

What is the Leep Ring return policy?

A no-quibble return within 30 days of receiving your ring. Unpair it from the app before returning and include your order number. UK returns get a pre-paid label; international returns are at the buyer's cost unless the ring is faulty, in which case we cover shipping regardless of location. Refunds are processed within 5–10 working days of receiving the return.

I ordered a colour that's out of stock - what are my options?

We'll contact you as soon as we're aware of a delay. You can switch to an available colour and receive your ring straight away, wait for your colour to restock, or cancel for a full refund — we regularly offer a goodwill discount for stock delays.

Can I exchange my ring for a different size?

Yes — contact support@leephealth.com to arrange an exchange. UK customers receive a pre-paid return label; international customers cover return shipping.

Which finger should I wear the Leep Ring on?

The index or middle finger gives the best PPG sensor signal quality due to larger blood vessels. The ring finger and pinky also work well. If you plan to wear the ring during activities, choose a finger where the ring stays snug without spinning freely.

If you wear the ring on yourindex finger, the app will pick up phone interactions such as swiping, which can be useful for detecting night time waking.

What does the ring icon in the top right of the app mean?
  • Orange circle with a percentage: ring connected, showing battery level.
  • Spinning white semi-circle: ring actively syncing data.
  • Red circle: ring not connected — try closing and reopening the app.

For persistent connection problems, see the Troubleshooting document for the full reconnection steps.

How do I export my data?

Go to Your Account > Export Your Data for a CSV containing all your sleep segments, heart rate, HRV, SpO2, temperature and step data — open it in Excel/Numbers, or upload it to an AI assistant for a readable analysis.

This is different from the automatic cloud backup that protects your account history — see the Troubleshooting document for backup and device-transfer guidance.

Why does my sleep data sometimes show gaps?

The most common cause is the ring not detecting a transition out of sleep mode when you wake during the night (known as WASO — Wake After Sleep Onset detection), something we're actively improving with a Sleep Correction Layer currently in development. Syncing the app as soon as you wake helps the algorithm process the full night correctly.

If gaps are frequent or severe, see "My sleep data is missing or incomplete" and "My heart rate graphs have gaps" in the Troubleshooting document for fit- and battery-related causes.

Does the ring track naps?

Yes. The ring needs your heart rate and movement to drop to sleep levels to classify a nap, so a light doze with background noise is harder to detect than a proper lie-down. Naps within about 4 hours of your main sleep can sometimes be missed while the algorithm finishes processing the night. Syncing right after waking from a nap helps.

My suggested bedtime looks wrong - why?

Suggested bedtime is calculated from your historical sleep patterns, so if your data baseline was affected by a software issue, the suggestion may be off. After updating the app and a few days of clean data, it will recalibrate.

Can the Leep Ring track workouts and physical activity accurately?

The Leep Ring tracks activity that can affect your sleep. We sync with Apple Health and Google Fit to combine workout data and improve sleep insights.

Why are my step counts lower than expected?

Steps are estimated from arm swing and accelerometer motion combined with your height, weight and age (fill these in under Your Account > Your Profile for best accuracy). Activities that restrict arm swing — pushing a pram, cycling, rowing, weightlifting — will show lower step counts. Live Heart Rate gives a better picture of exertion for these activities than step count alone.

Can I use the ring for swimming and cycling?

Yes — it's waterproof for swimming (see the waterproof question above), and Live Heart Rate (available on both iOS and Android) gives an accurate effort reading for cycling, where arm-swing-based step counting won't. Several users have reported successful use on 4–5 hour rides with minimal battery impact.

Does the ring track workouts, or VO2 max?

It tracks activity that affects your sleep and syncs with Apple Health and Google Fit to combine workout data with sleep insights. VO2 max isn't currently supported — it requires exercise intensity and respiratory modelling we're not yet doing, though it's on our longer-term roadmap.

Does the ring work with Apple Health or Google Health Connect?

Yes. Apple Health integration is live on iOS, syncing sleep, movement and vitals. Google Health Connect is available on Android. Both let your Leep data flow into your wider health picture alongside other devices and apps.

Is the Leep Ring comfortable? Do users find it bulky or intrusive?

At just 2.22mm thick, the Leep Ring is ultra-thin and lightweight. Most people stop noticing it after a short time. It’s made from aerospace-grade titanium with a smooth, hypoallergenic inner lining, designed for 24/7 comfort.

Are these smart rings worth it? What are user experiences?

For people who want better sleep without pressure, many users say the Leep Ring feels worth it. They often report improved sleep and steadier daily energy,  without feeling stressed or judged by their data. It’s designed to support healthier habits quietly with a focus on rest, not perfection.

What’s included with the Leep Ring?

Every Leep Ring set includes a Leep Ring in your chosen colour, a Charging Case, a USB Type-C charging cable and two ring protectors (one clear, one black). So you have everything you need to get started.

Please note: the ring protectors must be removed before placing your ring in the charging case, as they can prevent the magnetic pins from making contact.

What do I do if I cannot remove the Leep Ring?

Finger size changes throughout the day, which can occasionally make a ring harder to remove. Try wetting your finger with mild soap or cold water and gently twisting it off, or raising your hand above heart level for a few minutes to reduce swelling. Cooling your hand in a bowl of cold water with ice, or using the string/floss method, can also help. If you experience pain, numbness or increasing discomfort, seek medical assistance promptly.

Can I wear more than one Leep Ring, or share my ring with family?

You can own more than one ring, but only one can be connected to the app at a time. Family members over 18 can use your ring after it's reset in the app — it will take up to 7 days to recalibrate to a new wearer. The ring isn't recommended for under-18s, as it's designed for adult physiology.

Is there any health certification for the Leep Ring?

The Leep Ring is classed as a wellness device, not a medical device. It’s designed to support healthy habits rather than diagnose or treat medical conditions. The Leep Ring will be certified to meet all CE/FCC/UKFCA market requirements for sale and safety.

How thick is the Leep Ring?

The Leep Ring is ultra-thin at just 2.22mm, designed for comfortable 24/7 wear.

What is the exact weight of the Leep Ring?

Depending on the size, the weight of the Leep Ring ranges between 2.5g to 6g.

What is the ring made of, and how much does it weigh?

The outer shell is aerospace-grade titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) for strength, light weight, corrosion resistance and biocompatibility, with a seamless hypoallergenic epoxy-based resin inner lining and a PVD coating. It's one of the thinnest smart rings on the market at 2.22mm at its thinnest point, weighing between 2.5g and 6g depending on size.

Can the Leep Ring detect health changes?

The Leep Ring isn’t a medical device, but it can help you notice patterns and changes in your sleep and recovery over time. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, monitor, or prevent medical conditions or illnesses. You should not make any changes to your medication, nutrition, or workouts without first consulting your doctor or another medical professional.

Can the Leep Ring track health data without an internet connection? Which features still work offline?

Yes, the Leep Ring continues tracking your data even when you’re offline. An internet connection isn’t required for tracking. When your ring reconnects to  your phone via Bluetooth, the Leep App will sync and process the data as usual.

Can the Leep Ring track data if it’s not connected to a phone?

The Leep Ring can track and store up to two weeks of data without being connected to your phone. For the most complete and up-to-date insights, we suggest syncing once or twice a day when it’s convenient.

How do I pair the ring, and do I need Bluetooth on?

Download the Leep App and follow the guided setup — always pair through the app rather than your phone's Bluetooth settings. Bluetooth must be enabled for syncing, though the ring keeps collecting data even when Bluetooth is off and syncs automatically once it's back on. The ring uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), so it may not appear in your phone's Bluetooth settings menu — this is normal.

Is the Leep Ring waterproof?

Yes. The Leep Ring is rated IP68 and water resistant up to 50 metres, so it's safe for swimming, showering, washing your hands and rain. We don't recommend scuba diving or submersion over 12 hours, and the ring should be removed before saunas, baths or jacuzzis.

Tracking heart rate while swimming is an industry-wide PPG challenge — water interferes with the light signal, and swimming heart rate naturally reads 10–15bpm lower than equivalent land-based effort. A silicone finger guard over the ring can improve sensor contact in water, and using Live Heart Rate before getting in the pool gives better results than background sampling.

Is the Leep Ring scratch-resistant?

The titanium body resists scratches well, though light surface marks can appear over time with daily wear, as with most jewellery. To minimise cosmetic wear: wear it on your non-dominant hand, avoid wearing other rings next to it, and remove it for high-friction activities like weightlifting.

Can my child use the Leep Ring?

The Leep Ring is not recommended for users under 18, as it’s designed for adult physiology and sleep patterns.

Does the app handle time zone changes automatically?

Yes. The ring updates to your local time automatically when it reconnects to the app over Bluetooth in a new time zone, provided Bluetooth is enabled and your phone's OS is up to date.

Is my data secure and private?

Yes, your data is secure and private. We encrypt everything, so your information is protected both on your phone and in our secure cloud storage.

We don't sell your data. Ever. There are no advertisers and no hidden data sharing.

You’re always in control:

• Export your data at any time
• Delete your data whenever you choose
• Full access to everything we collect
• Opt in or out of any sleep research studies we take part in
• GDPR-compliant and transparent by design

Research participation is always optional. If we contribute to sleep studies, it’s to improve our product and advance sleep science, but only with your explicit consent. We also keep our privacy policy in plain English, so it’s easy to understand how your data is used.

Is the Leep Ring AI-powered?

Leep uses intelligent algorithms to analyse your sleep patterns and provide personalised insights. It’s best thought of as smart pattern recognition, rather than artificial intelligence making decisions for you.

Can I set goals in the app, like improving sleep consistency?

Yes — you can work towards goals like improving sleep consistency, reducing stress, or boosting energy, with progress shown via simple charts and gentle, optional nudges based on your patterns.

Can I wear my Leep Ring only at night?

Yes you can wear your Leep Ring only at night and still get useful sleep insights. Wearing it during the day helps build a more complete picture of how activity, stress, and recovery affect your sleep. So for deeper personalisation we recommend 24/7 wear, but it’s entirely up to you.

How do I clean and dispose of my Leep Ring?

Clean it about once a week: gently wipe the sensor bumps with a soft cloth, or rinse with a little mild dish soap and water, drying thoroughly before wearing again. The ring and Charging Case contain batteries, so dispose of them as e-waste via your local electronics recycling point when no longer needed.

What is Heart Rate Variability (HRV), and how accurate is heart rate tracking?

HRV is the natural variation in time between heartbeats, used as a signal of how your body copes with stress, recovery and overall balance — best read as a trend over time rather than a single number.

The ring samples heart rate every 10 minutes in the background; the app shows the most recent sample, not a live figure. Static accuracy is 97% within ±3 BPM, validated against the Polar H10 chest strap ECG. Live Heart Rate is available on both iOS and Android.

Is the Leep Ring EMF-safe?

Yes. It uses low-power Bluetooth Low Energy, connecting only when you open the app or at set intervals, unlike devices with constant connectivity such as earbuds or smartwatches. Bluetooth activity stays below 1% of the day, giving significantly lower EMF exposure than most Bluetooth wearables.

Is the Leep Ring comfortable to wear at night?

Yes. The Leep Ring is lightweight and designed to be worn 24/7 including during sleep. Customers consistently describe it as so light they forget they are wearing it.

Is the Leep Ring available in the UK?

Yes. The Leep Ring ships from the UK with free UK delivery. It is also available internationally.

What does the Leep Ring track?

The Leep Ring tracks sleep duration, sleep stages, heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), blood oxygen (SpO2), skin temperature, steps, distance and active minutes.

What is the best smart ring with no subscription?

The Leep Ring is a smart ring with no subscription that tracks sleep, HRV, SpO2 and activity for a one-time cost of £199. All app features are included with no monthly fees.

What is the best smart ring under £200?

The Leep Ring costs £199 and includes sleep tracking, HRV, SpO2, heart rate and activity tracking with no subscription. It has been featured in Forbes, Wired and TechAdvisor.

Is the Leep Ring a good alternative to Whoop?

Yes. The Leep Ring tracks sleep, HRV, heart rate and recovery similar to Whoop, but as a ring rather than a wrist band. Unlike Whoop, there is no monthly subscription - you pay £199 once.

What are the ring protectors for?

The two ring protectors guard the ring's PVD finish during gardening, gym work, cleaning or other heavy manual activity. Remove the protector before charging and before sleep, so the sensors keep the best possible contact with your skin.

Is the Leep Ring available outside the UK?

Yes — the Leep Ring ships from the UK with free UK delivery and is also available internationally.
